What is caning?

Caning is the process of weaving a natural material deriving from the rattan palm usually found in the forests of Asia used to weave panels for seating and various uses; also commonly known as wicker. In fact, Lazo’s caning & wicker was named after this very idea. Your one stop furniture repair in Houston.

Dryness and brittleness are the common causes of caning breaking with holes and sagging. This tends to be the most common reason many decide to re-cane. Oiling your cane panels twice a year with Old English lemon oil can rehydrate the caning and maintain tensile strength. Alternatively, you can spray warm water lightly onto the cane to rehydrate and prevent drying.
